Partners

The “ROCHEMP – ARMENIA: Creation of a Regional Center for the Management, Conservation and Enhancement of Cultural Heritage” Project, was born from the mutual commitment of three Principal Partners: University of Bologna, AICS – Italian Agency for Cooperation Development and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.

University of Bologna

Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna is one of the oldest and largest Italian universities. Its commitment is to promote education attentive to cultural peculiarities and entrepreneurial trends. The University, today developed in a network of sites distributed on a regional basis (Bologna, Ravenna, Forlì, Cesena and Rimini), has always focused on the quality and innovation of teaching and research, promoting experimental research and technology transfer. Research, increasingly intrinsically linked to teaching, is today a priority commitment for the University of Bologna, which is committed to achieving high-level results also at the international level. In fact, Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna participates in the European and global network of the main universities, while the participation of foreign students in programs that include its educational offer is always growing. Today, Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna is one of the most important Italian research Centers, characterized by the combination of theoretical bases of excellence and infrastructures of first research and an active role in international cooperation, structured in 33 departments operating in humanistic and scientific studies.

Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, as “Executive Body“, collaborates in the Project by making available the knowledge and skills of teachers, researchers and qualified technical staff of four Structures: the Department of Cultural Heritage, the Department of Architecture, the Department of History, Culture and Civilization and the Center for Advanced Studies for Tourism.

Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia collaborates on the project, providing programmatic guidelines and the institutional framework, within which are carried out the most important project activities. The preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and the recovery of ancient traditions are an absolute priority in the strategy for the Country’s development, as they are key points of National identity and for a harmonious and sustainable growth of the Nation itself. Among its departments, the Ministry has different Committees and Institutions that intervene, directly or indirectly, in the management and safeguarding of the Country’s cultural and historical heritage.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia actively collaborates in the project and in the activities of the Center through representatives and advisors, playing the role of “Principal Partner” and receiver of the project.

AICS – Italian Agency for Development Cooperation

The Italian Development Cooperation Agency was created with the aim of aligning Italy with the main European and international partners in the commitment to development. The Agency’s task is to carry out the technical-operational activities related to the preliminary investigation, formulation, financing, management and control phases of international cooperation initiatives. The Agency’s main objectives lie in eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, affirming human rights and the dignity of individuals – including gender equality and equal opportunities – in conflict prevention and in supporting processes of pacification, liberal democracy and the construction of the rule of law. This is not just an “economic” agenda, but a real human promotion. This is the challenge that the Agency wants to propose and experiment for the future and on which it wants to bring together public and private agents, uniting culture, education, work, rights, business and community according to the European and Italian model.

The Agency has its headquarters in Rome, a branch in Florence and 20 offices abroad for monitoring, implementation and analysis of the development needs of partner countries.

In the Project “ROCHEMP – ARMENIA: Creation of a Regional Center for the Management, Conservation and Enhancement of Cultural Heritage”, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation covers the role of “Managing Body” and is also the main financier.
